The definition of VESA

The VESA standard, also called VESA dimension or VESA standard, is an international standard for attaching TVs and other screens to monitor mounts or TV mounts.

Depending on the screen's size and weight, at least four threaded holes or mounting holes (hole pattern) are defined for attaching a bracket. Thanks to the standardized VESA design, screens can be mounted to a monitor arm for the wall, table, or ceiling. This requires that both the screen and the bracket conform to the same VESA standard.
